Founded in early 2015, after years of brainstorming during nearly 10,000 offshore miles in the north and south pacific, and decades of family marine industry experience going back several generations, Ingenia is a newly founded firm, but has substantial history and experience to draw on. At it's core, Ingenia Marine is a platform on which to build relationships, products and services that will result a significant, positive change, in the marine and outdoor industries.
Good question. A lot of thought went into it before settling on Ingenia Marine. The answer is buried in geek speak.
"Ingenia" comes from latin. It is the plural of the noun "Ingenium", meaning an innate quality, a natural capacity, intellegence or talent. In english it was translated to the word "Ingenious", and in french became the term "ingenieux". It's root comes from from "In+Gignere", meaning roughly to give birth to talent as it related to inventing or innovating ideas and/or things, and is highly likely related to the english word Engineer (Note that "en-gineer" is phonetically near identical to "in-gignere").
